Cogiscan to Highlight Award-Winning Technologies at SMT Nuremberg 2012
BROMONT, CANADA - May 2012 - Cogiscan, the leading track, trace and control solutions provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, will showcase a range of ground-breaking innovations at its German distributor pb tec’s Booth 7:506B at the upcoming SMT/Hybrid/Packaging exhibition, scheduled to take place 8 – 10th May, 2012, at the Messezentrum in Nuremberg, Germany.
Cogiscan’s LabelScan Vision System, which recently won the highly-coveted 2012 NPI Award in the category of Labeling Equipment, is an automated vision system to read supplier labels, a functional prototype of the revolutionary LabelScan. This is a handheld vision system that can take a single image of all the fields on a supplier barcode label. The turnkey solution features an advanced algorithm to recognize the different fields of data and transfer this data in a suitable format to any application used for receiving materials, such as an MES, MRP or ERP.
Cogiscan’s innovative Track, Trace and Control (TTC) application software enables operators, technicians, engineers and managers to use intuitive interfaces that are tailored to meet specific needs at particular areas on the factory floor. Through these interfaces, users can perform transactions with the system, search for materials, query for data, or generate reports. Cogiscan TTC application software can integrate with existing MES, MRP and ERP systems, and can collect data from any hardware device – including RFID and barcode technology. And, because the software platform is easy to use and to configure, implementation time is rapid, and operator training time is short.
Cogiscan’s new software for Setup Validation and Traceability for LED Binning was developed in response to an ever-growing need in the electronics manufacturing industry. Due to variations in the manufacturing process, LEDs are sorted by part number as well as LED color and binning. This additional complexity is managed by a TTC system that is closely integrated with the SMT placement machine.
Cogiscan’ Product Flow Controller: PFC + is a complete redesign of the original PFC, which has been very successful for Cogiscan over the years. The PFC+ offers the same functionality, including the ability to stop an automated assembly line in the case of process error and to ensure a 100 percent read rate of serialized PCBs. The PFC+ is significantly smaller and less expensive than the original PFC.
Cogiscan’s Co-President, André Corriveau explains, "We are very excited and proud of the products that will be on display during SMT Nuremberg 2012. We expect a very good response because the European market is a natural fit for our Track, Trace and Control solutions. We have already won several major projects in Europe recently and we expect this trend to continue. We will have a presence in the pb tec booth, and as always, a complete IFS-X2 demo in the Juki booth 7-333."
Juki offers customers a comprehensive repertoire of line solutions that includes a screen printer solution from GKG and Cogiscan’s component inventory tracking, process validation and traceability solution centered around the pick-and-place machine. In an effort to continue providing customers with the most advanced technologies, Juki will demonstrate for the first time, the IFS-X2 with an option to provide track, trace and control (TTC) for the GKG screen printer. Cogiscan provides this technology that incudes solder paste, stencil and squeegee tracking, as well as correct machine setup validation and the ability to save traceability data that has been used for each produced PCB serial number. Using this option, operators only need to learn one system for validation of the entire line and customers can receive traceability data from the printer and placement machines in the same report/database.
