Fast and Problem-free placing of Difficult Components

The direct feeding or presentation from blister packaging and the processing of difficult, 'odd-form' components is often a challenge. JUKI's matrix tray changer (MTC) and the new, universal tape presenter offer a dependable solution that is capable of placing even such difficult components quickly and without problems.

Placing from blister

Special components are usually supplied in low-cost packaging units known as blister trays.  This disposable packaging serves solely for transport purposes and is generally too imprecise for processing on placement machines.
The matrix tray changer from JUKI offers a range of variable options that allow even such awkward blister trays to be used directly as component palettes. Costly unpacking onto mechanically stable trays is no longer necessary.

Picking complicated geometrical shapes

Another benefit of JUKI systems is their ability to process geometrically more complex components such as potentiometers that must be picked directly from the blister trays.

The KE 2070/80 generation from JUKI thus benefits from two tried-and-tested advantages. On the one hand, the placement machines have a wide palette of image-recognition systems. One of these is 'General Vision', which covers complex component shapes such as 'lead', ball', 'land' and 'outline-recognized'. Components are verified according to the programming by means of centring.  On the other hand, the availability of special suction cups and grippers makes for easy handling of the components.
Such a combination assures complete reliability in the picking, alignment and placement of difficult components.

Universal SMD Tape Presenter

For 0 series, prototype evaluation and small batch sizes, often only small, short and numbered SMD tapes are available that cannot be mounted in the feeder. The SMD tape presenter offers the ideal solution for placement in tape, but without roll and feeder. It operates directly on the machine, making costly and timeconsuming manual placement unnecessary.
The individual tapes are clamped over a series of linear rails, programmed, and then function as a tray.

JUKI will bring the SMD presenter to market this year in the following versions: 'static', for insertion in the feeder bank and for universal application with a wide range of items, two-storey and in combination with a TR-1 SN (DTS).

Come and see us for a live demonstration from 3 to 5 June 2008 at SMT Hybrid Packaging, Nuremberg (D), stand 7-452.

Customer Benefits / Savings

JUKI technology avoids the need for additional work processes such as repackaging. The low-cost, standard packaging can be used instead. Additionally, grippers and General Vision components outside the standard shapes can be handled without problems. Manual placement is a matter of the past. With JUKI systems even the smallest batch sizes or 0 series can be placed automatically.
